I fell asleep on the couch after a nice full dinner with my family last night. We went to Chili's and I am loving this healthy eatting so much I was exceptionally good for ME!! Now, of course, I had chips and salsa - but I'd say 1/4 of what I normally eat. And, of course, I had a margarita - but they are 2 for 1 so I had one and my mother had the other! Normally, I would have drank both! For dinner I went with the Quesadilla Explosion Salad - pictured here. Listen to this, I DID NOT eat the actual full sized cheese quesadilla that came cut up on the plate - Not even a taste!!!! And instead of the 2 salad dressings that I had them put on the side, I use salsa!!!!! OMG it was so good! And washed it all down with lots of water! This is not a picture I took, it's one I found on Google - so those are not my fajitas or boat in the background!
Oh gosh, I'm just now noticing all that cheese on it, though. Hmmmmm.
After dinner we went back to mom and dad's house and hopped in the hottub. Now, this is a ritual/routine. Hottub = drinking!!! I didn't even have a glass of wine - nothing!!!!!!!
Today I got up, feeling like I did, however, drink a gallon of wine and a pitcher of margaritas. I needed more water! So the very first thing that went into my body was fresh cool crisp clean filtered water! It felt awesome! Then I went to the scale I instantly was ticked off. I gained a pound!!!!
I had my usual 2 cups of coffee and my Multigrain Cheerios and a little more Cheerios than usual cuz I was hungry and cuz I was ticked off I felt I deserved it. HA HA HA The rain had set in. Constant steady heavy rain. The Fuchser River along our house was full and flowing. Cory and kids took off to do some shoe shopping, I was done with work. I knew what I needed to do. I looked outside at the steady falling rain. I looked at Max. And then I looked at my running shoes. I threw on my KUMC poncho pull over and off we went! I love the rain and I love cold gray days - I was in my element. The end of the 1st lap around the water filled park, Max and I noticed 4 teenage boys in black hoodies all hanging out under one of the pavillions and got the crazy eery feeling I get, so instead of a 2nd lap, we doubled the block we normally walk home. By the time we got in the driveway (the start of my path each day) I was soaked. That pull over is NOT water proof - it's like tent material - so anytime it touched my skin, it soaked through. My pants were soaked, even my shoes and down to my socks were soaked! And I couldn't have been happier! We walked a total of 2 miles in the steady straight-down rain!!!
Max and me - he looks peaked and
I look...stupid without my hair! HA HA HA
I came in took a LONG HOT shower and did something I never do - jumped on the scale. I lost a pound. It made me feel instantly better!
The rest of the day has been great! Girl Scout cookie booths, dropped off lots of clothes to Goodwill, talked to my dad who just got off a cruise and is soaking up the sun in Clearwater, Florida and have had a glass of wine!
Yes, this healthy life is good!! Good for my health and good for my heart!

Sheri,
Love the picture so cute! So great that you took a different approach to the small gain on the scale - Walking. You could have choosen a different approach of eating and eating. But you didn't. Remember there is always a flucuations in you weight based on what you eat. More salt can put on weight. Just keep on the health way of eating and it will all come together. Promise!
