TGIF, everyone!
This morning I went grocery shopping slowing browsing through the fresh produce to see what all is really out there and enjoyed seeing cantelope come out and watermelon, fresh plumbs, and grapes! Once I got to the frozen foods for some veggies I grew curious at the vegan snacks and meals. I decided to go waaaaaaaay out on a limb and try something new! I was so excited with my strange purchase but then forgot about it once I got home. I had a couple of things to do before work and had some low fat cottage cheese and fruit for a snack. Here was my lunch today:
Man does that look good or what? I had veggies earlier so I just ate my burger by itself. With the soft whole wheat bun andsimple toppings, I figured this to be 300 calories. Not too bad!! AND I didn't even feel guilty about a slab of juicy red meat!
Because it's Morning Stars Grillers Prime vegan burger!!!! And it wasn't bad at all!!! You just warm it up for a minute 30 then flip for another 15. Great lunch and I full and guilt free!
Almost guilt free - - -I need to go for a walk!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I'm having so much fun exploring VERY new and strange things that I would have never tried before!
For my happiness, Max got a new LEATHER collar today! If he breaks or chews this one off I'll be amazed!
There's my little 60lb terror of trouble! Speaking of which, I'd better get him out for his walk, too!
Have a great Friday!!!!

Thursday
For happiness today:
My best friend, Jane, is a wealth of knowledge and brilliant ideas! After last night when Max first cut himself, the vet was already closed, my husband was too ticked off to care, so I called Jane. She and her husband have a black lab, Monty, and are excellent with him. So I called her to get her opinion. She agrees that is sounds like Max does not need to go to the vet since he was not bleeding much at all. And she helped calm me down. After a night of hubby still be ticked about broken glass, dog, needing new door, Jane suggested to me this morning that I go get a piece of plexy glass cut. At first I wasn't thinking of the right thing, but then I got it! Again, a brillia1t idea. So two trips to Lowe's later (first measurement not quite right and guy cut it not quite right either), I now have the door fixed. It's an ugly door and we plan to replace it soon, but for right now and $10.67 later, I'm thrilled with it. I also stopped at Walmart and got a choker collar and a 30' vinyl covered steel threaded rop for Max so he can be outside. And in Tennessee that also means starting Frontline today! Still all cheaper than a new door!
Onto my health:
Last night I decided to try this simple simple bar-b-que grilled chicken sandwich. It was so simple, it was a joke. Hubby loved it and had 2. I just put a boneless skinless chicken breast on the grill then tossed it on a whole wheat bun with very minimal low fat mayonaise, a piece of lettuce and some diced tomatoes. It's less than 289 calories!!! But today for an early lunch, I dolled mine up! I added a few dill pickle slices and several pepericino's. OMG it is delish!!!!!
I hope to get my walk today, but I'm not even near getting my work done. So I'd better hit it.
One thing I know is I stress easily. Today, my left underarm started hurting near my chest. I just observe these things cuz A) I'm always stressedand B) heart attacks run in my family.
But door fixed, belly full, gonna tackle work and head out into this beautiful day!!!!

Exhausted
I am thoroughly exhausted.
I took Max and went on our 2.4 mile walk. He did great. We got home and friends were here to pick up their daughter. I brought Max in the house so he wouldn't get all excited. I went and got the baby gate to keep him down in our office. About that time my friend walked past outside and Max got excited and jump to the door - putting his paw into the glass and shattering it. Scared the hell out of them and it's an old door so it's just single pane. The glass spiderwebbed and some went out. luckily not hurting anyone. I looked back and although sheepish, Max was fine. We got all the glass out of the door and then I saw Max licking his paws. Sure enough he cut himself in two places. He wasn't really bleeding but I held pressure to be sure. So now we need a new door - which was in the plans anyway, but just not right now. And my husband is beyond pissed at Max and is really wanting to get rid of him. I'm not going to let him. I'm really upset. I mean I understand he's chewed up about $175 worth of gaming controllers and now a new door. Max is really friendly and loving not mean at all, he just gets so excited.
I dunno. Turned out to be a bad night. I'm just glad Max wasn't seriously hurt OR our friends walking by with the shooting glass.

Happy Hump Day!
I am loving my walks! I'm getting out this week rain or shine and it feels good! I actually made my walk yesterday while my husband played with the kids and one of their friend from schools. I walked 2.4 miles!!!! I'm finally starting this path and as I go to leave for my walk, my husband, Cory, says, "Why are you going for a walk when we're all outside playing?" I tried to explain to him that I hadn't gotten my walk in yet today and wanted to before it got dark. I make it down to the park, around once, and then he pulls up with the kids behind me. "Come on babe, let's head over to the hottub." Uh, no, I'm walking. I mean, I am walking and having to argue with him to let me walk and get some exercise!!! And he and the kids wouldn't take no for an answer. Finally I told them drive around and meet me at home. Then I took off running!! HA HA HA I had to stop a few times to catch my breath, but it really felt good and I beat them home!!!
I didn't take Max with me cuz I didn't get his harness fixed yesterday. And the park is really safe, surrounded one on side by houses - even a friend we know. But I always keep my eye out for suspicious people or cars parked with dark windows. As I am walking I hear a car coming up so I turn around and they're coming really slow (it IS a park) and close to me. Then this gray car was next to me and I was looking right at these two guys who creepily smiled and kept going. My instinct was to text Cory the license plate... just in case. He, of course, is confused by this, I explain it and he laughs. I replied, Uh, no - not ha ha, could be serious. Nice to know he could never interpret my clues if they really mattered. I think after all the Kara Kopetsky and Kelsie Smith issues I'm just always thinking waaaaay too far ahead.
So the scary part. Mrs. Kathi is helping down My Path. I am student. She is instructor! Today we discussed calories. 1200 comes to mind immediately. Kathi says 1500-2000!!! That is a very large number in my eyes. I mean, sure I've probably eatten that in JUNK FOODaccidentally or holiday binging or too much wine and snacks, but to pack it in on a regular day with healthy food - that is a lot to eat. She asks me why it scares me and I say it's 500-700 more than normal and I'm afraid I'll blow up! She just try it for a few days. Even today I am already realizing when I only eat 129 calories for breakfast, of course I'm hungry again 2 hours later. And my 70 calories worth of peperocini's and kalamata olives does not tide me over very long. And that awesome grilled chicken sandwich I plan to grill for dinner WITH BAR-B-QUE SAUCE is only 298 calories - I need about 500 for each meal! So I'm paying even more attention to what I'm eating and when. I love learning these things and even better yet - understanding them!
I got Max's harness fixed today so we will both be walking this afternoon - not worrying about slow creepy cars. If I ever post a license plate number, someone please call for help. Cuz I can almost promise you, my husband won't get it! ;)

Veggie sandwiches
O-----M-----G!!!!!!
Starting this new path I am trying new things. Some things I'm not quite sure I'll like, but I am stepping foot on the gravel. Kathi sent me this recipe for Veggie Sandwiches and it did look good, but whole wheat bread made me think: hard and dry. Boy was I wrong!!!! This is probably one of the softest tender breads I've had in awhile! And this takes no time to make. Even after baking it when I took it out and knocked on the top it sounded like it would be hard and I cringed. But it is like a soft pizza dough!!!!
I love it. Owen, my son, however, scruntched up his nose and said it smelled?????? It doesn't smell at all - I think that was his objection to seeing all the veggies. He tried three bites and just said he didn't like it. So who knows, but I love it! And it's not too bad for you either, I posted the nutrients at the end of the post.
After sauteeing the vegetables and placing them on the bottom layer of the bread.
It looks even better with a little cheddar cheese sprinkled on top
Fresh out of the over. See that bread looks HARD! Psych! It's not!!
I like the veggies peaking out the bottom corner.
can you read that? 217 calories per slice 7.5 grams of fat. So not tooooo bad! And you get so many veggies: broccolli, spinach, red peppers, and carrots. I may try the low fat Sharp cheddar next time, but I wasn't willing to branch off that far yet!
Hope no one minds me posting things I'm finding on other sites. I just really enjoy them and want to share!
About to go get daughter from school and then hopefully walk. Slight possibility we may have to grab her friend for her parents - but I promise you, that means she walks too. ha ha ha

Sorry for any issues with not being able to post a Comment. With my see through background, I guess the comment screen was popping up behind the photo. But now you're good to go!

Good Berry Morning!
This morning, my daughter and I tried a mixed berry with pomegranted smoothie!!! We both love it!
Dole makes the frozen package of fruit and I just added 1 cup of 1% milk to the blender of fruit! because I was sharing it with Elaine, I did had 1 package of Sweet N Low. After tasting it, 1/2 package would have been enough. For 1 cup it was 100 calories - fruit was 70 plus the milk and the SNL.
The scale dropped for me this morning, so I'm hoping my attempt at healthy eating and my walks are helping. I know it's all about small steps. I have to go get Max's harness sewn today at a little alternations shop in town because my sewing machine will never go through that thick material. Also I had to move the cats food off the side counter in the kitchen and up into the high windowsill to keep Max from constantly jumping up and getting into it. I swear this dog is just killing me!
Looking forward to my walk today and eating healthy healthy healthy!
